CAP: Up to 1.5cm in diameter. A dung loving fungus that is found in small clusters on the appriopriate substrate. The cap is hemispherical to bell-shaped with a peeling sticky skin. The colour is dark to tawny brown with faint lining at the edge. GILLS/PORES: The gills are distant, adnate and are brownish-grey becoming darker. FLESH: Whitish with a faint mushroomy smell. SPORES: Brownish-purple, lens shaped with a germ pore (Link). HABITAT: Found on the dung of various herbivores mainly cows, deer and sheep. SEASON: Autumn to winter. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
